What Bible Teaches About Non-Christians or Unsaved People:
1. That they are sinners who need to be born again spiritually (John 3:1-3). “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). See also Rom. 3:10; Rom. 5:12; Isaiah 53:6; John 3:3. If one is not saved (born again), they will suffer spiritual death, eternal separation from God (John 3:36; Matt. 25:41; Rom. 6:23; II Thess. 1:7-9; Rev. 21:8).
2. That they cannot save themselves by moral or religious works. Only by faith in Jesus Christ payment on the cross “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast” (Eph. 2:8-9). See also Isaiah 64:6 Jer. 13:23; Titus 3:5.
3. That Jesus Christ loves them and died for them. “For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly” (Rom. 5:6). See also John 3:16; Rom. 5:8; Heb. 2:9; Isaiah 53:6.
4. What they must do to be saved. There are two commandments for the sinner to obey in order to be saved. They are not outward acts, but decisions of the heart and mind.
- Repent – “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out” (Acts 3:19). See also Luke 13:3,5; 18:13;Acts 17:30; II Cor. 7:10. Repentance is acknowledging your sin, being sorry for your sin, and looking to God for mercy, forgiveness, and cleansing through the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ (Rom. 3:23,25).
- Believe – (Have Faith) “Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:30,31). See also John 3:16,18; Luke 7:50; Acts 10:43. To have saving faith is to rely upon, have confidence in, to trust Jesus Christ to deliver you from the penalty and power of sin, to keep you from going to Hell and take you to Heaven. To be saved means to be made safe.
To repent and believe, you do not merely confess that you HAVE sinned, but that you ARE a sinner. Do not ask for JUSTICE, but ask for MERCY. BELIEVE ON Jesus, not just ABOUT Him. Do not pray, “Lord, help me to be saved,” but “Lord, save me.” Do not pray, “Lord, help me to be strong,” but “Lord, be my strength.” Do not say, “Lord, show me the way,” but “Lord, take me to Heaven.” Do not pray, “Lord, help me to live,” but “Lord, be my life.” Do not request, “Lord, help me to be good,” but “Lord, be my righteousness” (John 14:6; Gal. 2:20).
Once you have thus committed yourself to Christ, believing that He will do just what He promises, Christ takes over. You do not have to pray this way and make this commitment but once. The great transaction is done, once for all. Now you should find a good Bible teaching church and pastoral leadership in your life.
What The Bible Teaches About Christians or Saved People:
1. That they are saved. “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life” (I John 5:13). You can know you are saved when you have done what God tells you to do to be saved when you have repented and believed, called upon God believing His promise (Rom. 10:13). You can also have assurance by the works you do. A tree is known by its fruit. Our works are not the cause of our salvation, but the result of it. Salvation is the New Birth, in which one becomes a new creature in Christ. See also II Cor. 5:17; Eph. 2:10; Rom. 8:14-16; Gal. 5:22-23; II Tim. 1:12; I John 2:3,5; 3:14; 5:10-13.
2. That Christ will keep them saved. “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” (John 10:27-28). See also John 5:24; Rom. 8:28-39; I Peter 1:5; Jude 24; Psalm 37:23-24,28. Once one is saved, he is always saved.
3. What happens when God’s children sin. “If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments; if they break my statues, and keep not my commandments; then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes” (Psalm 89:30-32). See also I Cor. 11:30-32; Heb. 12:5-11; I John 2:1.
4. That they are rewarded for faithful service. “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be” (Rev. 22:12). See also I Cor. 3:11-15; II Cor. 5:10; Matt. 25:21. A child of God has two natures, the fleshly which is sinful, and the spiritual which is holy (John 3:6). They are in constant conflict (Gal. 5:17; Rom. 7:15-25). When a child of God sins, he does not lose his salvation, but the joy of it; he is chastened and he loses rewards.
What Things New Baby Christians Should Do:
1. Take the first step commanded: Be baptized in water. “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized” (Acts 2:41). See alsoActs 8:36-39; 10:47-48; 16:30-33; Matt. 3:5-6; 28:19-20; John 3:22-23; Rom. 6:4. Baptism has no saving power – it is only a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. It is to a Christian what a uniform is to a soldier.
2. Attend church faithfully. “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching” (Heb. 10:25). One should join a church which is true to the teachings of Christ (Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 2:41-47).
3. Study the Bible. “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow therby” (I Peter 2:2). See also II Tim. 2:15; 3:16-17. One should read the Bible daily, systematically.
4. Pray. “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will i do, that the Father may be glorifies in the Son” (John 14:13). You must comply with these conditions if you expect your prayer to be answered: (1) It must be in Jesus’ name, that is, by his authority, and (2) That God may be glorified in Him. By studying the Bible and seeking God’s will, you can know for what you have a right to ask. See also Matt. 6:5-25; Luke 11:1\9-13; Rom. 8:26; I Tim. 2:1-8;I Thess. 5:17.
5. Be a soul winner. “He that winneth souls is wise” (Prov 11:30). See also Psalm 126:5-6; Dan. 12:3; John 1:30-42; James 5:19-20;Luke 14:21-23. It is easy to be a soul winner – just tell what the Lord has done for you (Mark 5:19-20; John 4:28-30). Learn the four things the unsaved must know, and the scriptures at the beginning of this tract.
6. Give to the Lord. “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver” (II Cor. 9:7). See also Luke 6:38; I Cor. 16:2; Malachi 3:10.
Scripture Helps For Christians:
1. How to understand the Bible. “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (John 8:12). See also John 7:17. If one is willing to do God’s will when it is revealed to him, and will follow Jesus when he is shown the way, he will know the truth.
2. How to decide what is right. “Wether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (I Cor. 10:31). Should yo have this habit, partake of this entertainment, accept this job, marry this person, take this trip? Name it – you can settle it by answering the question: Is it for the glory of God?
